Golf Book Hinge

Every spring, Applied Underwriters sends out an intricate direct mail campaign that based on the theme of golf to over 30,000 potential clients. For Fall 2014 spring campaign, the direct mail piece was a child miniature golf book. The original design of this piece lacked the structure to prop up the left side of the spread where the illustration displayed the golfing scenery. To elevate the structure of the book, I was asked to alter the design so the book can prop itself up. After examining the crease of the original book, I made a few comps and researched a few iPad stands. I was able to relocate the spine crease and use it as a hinge to support the weight of each thick cardstock page. This solution is not only very simple in its design, but required no additional part. The company was able to patent this hinge design for their property with my name as the inventor.
